These small eye-candy pieces are made up of acrylic paint and is one of my all time favourite works, called Confections. It was a project that challenged us to use paint in a non-traditional way, and I was interested in what paint could become if there was no permanent surface. I wanted to see the different readings inherent in paint when it’s used in another way and how it would behave in an altered context.
It is constructed by building-up layer upon layer of acrylic paint, and finally cutting it all up into many tiny pieces. Inspiration came mainly from Rohan Wealleans – his works which I adore.
